Thanks to Lela Mae and David McKnight for selling their land to Little Wolf Nature Preserve.  They have helped preserve more of these beautiful Kentucky mountains for future generations of wildlife and people to enjoy.  Special thanks to Glen and Geraldine Rountree for helping to facilitate the sale.

Theresa on the new land

The new land is essentially a long, steep, forested sunny hill.

Theresa and Shadow on the dirt road

There is a nice, graded dirt road that runs the length of the new property.  This saves us from having to build a trail!

View of Wolf Mountain and Valley

The new land has a terrific view of the beautiful Wolf Mountain and Valley.

The new land bounds Little Wolf Nature Preserve on one side, and Daniel Boone National Forest on two sides.  Little Wolf now has over 1-3/4 miles of common boundary with the national forest, and is surrounded by over 3,000 acres of national forest down to the Tennessee line.

Small cave

There is at least one small cave on the new property.  This cave is too small to walk in but large enough to crawl around, though we haven’t explored it yet.  Our next-door neighbor has at least 3 larger caves on their property.

Like with much of Little Wolf, there are some large boulders on the new land.

Thanks again to all who helped Little Wolf Nature Preserve grow a little bit.
